MTC Bio designed its 5mL centrifuge tubes to scale up the convenience of standard 1.5mL tubes for larger volumes. The company makes these polypropylene tubes with an attached cap that provides a tight, leak-proof seal and allows users to open or close it with one hand. The cap maintains a secure seal from -86°C to +80°C.

These tubes match the diameter of standard 15mL tubes, ensuring compatibility with centrifuge rotors and similar equipment. In many applications, users have replaced 15mL tubes with them, reducing plastic waste, storage space, and shipping costs. Their shorter length allows standard 1mL and/or 5mL tips to reach the conical bottom, which eliminates contamination of pipettor shafts.

Dimensions measure 16.5 × 54 mm (excluding rim and cap), and the tubes withstand a maximum centrifugal force of 25,000×g.
